How Do I...
The IPMA maintains an E-mail list that is used to inform subscribers of upcoming IPMA activities, related events, and other news. This is a moderated list, i.e. only the IPMA Board members are able to send messages to the subscribers. To subscribe, complete the form in the ”Join the IPMA Mailing List” section at the bottom of the home page.
How to Get Involved & Contribute to the Community
If you would like to get involved in IPMA, the following opportunities are available:
Professional Development Events
Opportunities are available to help plan, organize, and conduct periodic professional development events. This includes selecting the topics to be covered, identifying potential presenters, and organizing the presentations.
Contact the committee leader for more information; see Professional Development at Board Committees.
Forum
A Forum Planning Committee works throughout the year to plan an annual two-day event in May featuring two keynote addresses, a series of seminars, and vendor displays. The Committee develops the theme for each event, establishes the tracks for the seminars and organizes the individual seminars. The Committee is assisted by a paid part-time event manager.
Contact the committee leader for more information; see Forum at Board Committees.
Executive Seminar
The Executive Seminar is an annual event in the fall bringing together approximately 100 government information technology executives and industry representatives for a three-day seminar to discuss topical issues. Planning for the location/facilities to be used occurs several years in advance. Program planning for each event begins early in the calendar year.
Contact the committee leader for more information; see Executive Seminar at Board Committees.
IPMA Board of Directors
The activities of the IPMA are guided by a 12-person Board of Directors. Directors serve three-year terms. Four directors are elected each year in November. The Board is a working group of volunteers who staff six major functions within IPMA, two directors per function. In addition to the four functions identified above, the Chair and Vice-Chair cover business planning and the Secretary-Treasurer maintains the organization's records and manage financial transactions.
Each year an ad hoc Election Committee seeks qualified candidates for open Board positions. If you are interested in serving on the Board, you are encouraged to express such interest at any time.
Contact any of the current IPMA Board members for more information; see Board Members.

During the 2022-2023 Corporate Membership year, IPMA Corporate Members delivered 30 presentations at IPMA Events, including:
Professional Development Events - Throughout the Year
The purpose of the Professional Development Committee is to provide educational and networking programs and seminars for the IT community. The Committee also provides selected formal training events. The Committee works with Corporate Members and state agencies to provide these programs at a minimal cost to attendees. The registration fee for these events is included in your Corporate Membership fee.
Executive Seminar - September
The Executive Seminar's goal is to facilitate communications, networking, and the exchange of information technology ideas among senior state government IT managers and Corporate Members. Approximately 65 State CIOs and IT managers will attend. This provides a great opportunity for Corporate Members to connect with the IT decision-makers in state government. In advance of the Executive Seminar, Corporate Members have the opportunity to submit speaker proposals. At the event, Corporate Members have the opportunity to network with government IT managers and provide input into contemporary state IT issues. Hotel and meeting expenses for one company representative are included in the Corporate Membership fee.
Forum - May
Forum is an annual information technology seminar and trade show sponsored by the IPMA. For thirty-plus years, Forum has proven to be an effective opportunity for vendors to demonstrate their solutions, for speakers to share their expertise and knowledge, and for state employees and others to attend free seminars and product demonstrations. It is important to note that Forum is one of the premier technology shows in the Pacific Northwest and the largest to focus solely on the public sector. Approximately 900 state, county, city and private sector employees will attend. Corporate Members have the option of being allocated high visibility display booths. Corporate Members will be given the opportunity to provide session speakers for Forum. Booth fees are included in the corporate membership fee.
Corporate Member Breakfasts and Lunches - September, February, and June
The IPMA Corporate Member Breakfasts and Lunches are an opportunity for Corporate Members and guests to hear from State IT Executives on current and future IT strategies and plans. It is also an opportunity for Corporate Members to ask questions of IT leaders on topics of their choosing.
The annual IPMA Corporate Membership fee for 2022-2023 is $5,300. The Corporate Membership fee must be paid by August 15, 2022, for participation in the Executive Seminar in September 2022.
